THE WHEAT KINGS AT THE MASTERS

As we all know, the Masters at Augusta National is a tradition unlike any other…until this year. Usually held in the month of April, the PGA major tournament was forced to change its schedule to a most unusual November 12th-15th date that has proven to be no less entertaining for golf and sports fans worldwide. Fans of the Wheat Kings can assume the majority of the Brandon Wheat Kings and their staff will be tuning in to see which golfer gets to wear the green jacket in 2020.

There are a number of Wheat Kings on the current roster who are very good golfers, even a few that are close to scratch. There are also several who are not scratch golfers and are admittedly just plain bad. But regardless of their handicap or experience on the course, we asked the team a few burning questions related to this weekend’s Masters celebrations for you to enjoy.

If you were playing in the Masters at Augusta this weekend, which Wheat King teammate would be your caddy and why?

salame Neithan Salame
I’d probably take Nolan Ritchie because he obviously knows what he’s doing out there he just won the junior Tamarack Golf Tournament out in Manitoba and would offer some pretty good advice on the course.

Ritchie Nolan Ritchie
Tough question. I’d say ‘Carts (Ben McCartney) because he says he’s the best golfer on our team and he would have his game face on the whole time but would make some jokes along the way to help me stay calm.

Thorpe Ty Thorpe
Definitely Nolan Ritchie because he’s got a great short game so he can line up my putts.

Schneider, Braden Braden Schneider
I’m
taking Ben McCartney because I’ve played with him the most and he knows my game the best. He made me feel good about myself when he hooks one after I slice mine.

Ridly Ridly Greig
Ritchie, Because he knows everything about golf and he’s the GOAT.
Nolan Ritchie, or Wheat Kings GM Darren Ritchie?
Nolan because he’s won every tourney known in Manitoba but maybe Darren because he’s got three hole-in-ones. Haha, I don’t know.

Reinhardt Cole Reinhardt
Probably Ben McCartney because he actually thinks he should be at the Masters. He can play but his ego needs to come down.

burzan Luka Burzan
I’d probably have to choose Nolan Ritchie. He seems like he knows what he’s doing and would help my game out.

McCartney Ben McCartney
I would say either Braden Schneider or Chad Nychuk because they always give me confidence while playing with them.

Sekundiak Marcus Sekundiak
I would ask Nolan Ritchie to caddy me because I’m not a great golfer but with the help of Nolan’s championship experience I think he would be able to help me out a lot.

Kruger Ethan Kruger
Chad Nychuk. I golfed with him this summer. Shared clubs with him, had some good chemistry on the course with him. He gave me some good tips, kept me level-headed out on Wheat City Golf Course.

riley Ginnell Riley Ginnell
I would probably have to ask Ritchie as we might see him in a green jacket in the near future.

Nychuk, Chad Chad Nychuk
Depends on the day. I did a lot of rounds with Ben this summer, but we really go at it sometimes. Neithan Salame would be my other choice. He’s always keeping the mood light and pumping my tires, he would keep my confidence up.

mccallum Lynden McCallum
I’m gonna have to go with Nolan Ritchie. I think with him winning the Tamarack it shows he knows a thing or two about golf and also because I had some of my best rounds of the summer last summer when I was playing with him.

Perepeluk Reid Perepeluk
Nolan Ritchie because I heard he has won golf tournaments before and can help me on the angles of where to hit the ball.

What do you think you’d shoot on Championship Sunday?

Ritchie Nolan Ritchie
Well I think I’d shoot in the 80’s but having ‘Carts caddy me might shave a couple strokes off my score so I’ll say 78.

Schneider, Braden Braden Schneider
Probably 25 over at best. Push that to 30 actually. At best.

mccallum Lynden McCallum
On Augusta? I think I’d be lucky to break 100 but that would probably be my goal.

Sekundiak Marcus Sekundiak
I’d say about 105. Maybe 110 if things aren’t going too good.

Thorpe Ty Thorpe
Probably 72. Not sure on which nine though.

Reinhardt Cole Reinhardt
110 on a good day.

Kruger Ethan Kruger
Probably a solid 80.

Ridly Ridly Greig
Oh god if I have Stew (Nolan Ritchie) as my caddie I’ll break 90 but without him probably 140.

salame Neithan Salame
Honestly, might win that tournament. Haha just kidding I’m not the best golfer, I’d be happy to crack 100 on that course.

Nychuk, Chad Chad Nychuk
Hopefully under 100.

riley Ginnell Riley Ginnell
I’m shooting 18, my best club is the pencil. But counting lost balls, ballpark 200. Would still play better than Reinhardt.

McCartney Ben McCartney
I think a 66. Depends on the weather.

What would your golf outfit look like?

Ridly Ridly Greig
Happy Gilmore style with a Wheaties jersey and shorts.

McCartney Ben McCartney
Red shirt and black pants, just like Tiger.

Sekundiak Marcus Sekundiak
I would wear grey golf pants, with a black polo shirt and a black Wheat Kings hat.

Reinhardt Cole Reinhardt
No idea.

Thorpe Ty Thorpe
Happy’s outfit but with a Wheat Kings jersey.

Schneider, Braden Braden Schneider
Black pants, white shirt, and a plaid golf hat. Nike golf shoes that look like regular shoes.

riley Ginnell Riley Ginnell
Probably some funky pants a simple top and a BWK hat.

mccallum Lynden McCallum
Lululemon pants, a shirt and a hat and probably some Adidas shoes.

Kruger Ethan Kruger
Some khaki pants with a nice black button up golf shirt. With bright red golf shoes. Keeping it classy.

Ritchie Nolan Ritchie
Normal clothes with a bucket hat.

salame  Neithan Salame
Sponsored by Nike wearing black pants and red shirt like Tiger and rock a visor also for sure.

Nychuk, Chad Chad Nychuk
Black window pane pants with a white Nike polo and black Nike hat.

What are you eating at the 10th hole?

mccallum Lynden McCallum
From what I’ve heard the sandwiches at Augusta are pretty good, so I would probably have to try one (or a few) of those out.

Schneider, Braden Braden Schneider
A burger and a Pepsi.

Perepeluk Reid Perepeluk
Hot dog.

Thorpe Ty Thorpe
Two burgers and peanuts. 72 shots will take a lot out of ya.

Kruger Ethan Kruger
Chicken burger and a Caesar salad.

Reinhardt Cole Reinhardt
A hotdog with Chuck’s (Chad Nychuk) lunch money.

McCartney Ben McCartney
Cheese burger and a Chocolate Cranked bar.

riley Ginnell Riley Ginnell
Going to have to go with a cheese steak burrito they look pretty good on the menu.

salame Neithan Salame
A hot dog, fries and a Diet Coke for sure. That’s my go to clubhouse meal.

Nychuk, Chad Chad Nychuk
Some hot dogs and a Reece’s pieces bar.

Bryson DeChambeau is known for playing slow. What would you say to him if he was taking too long to hit his shot?

Schneider, Braden Braden Schneider
I would probably take a look at the time and then tell him “nice shot” after he hit it 350 yds.

burzan Luka Burzan
I’d probably not say anything because I’m not the one to talk hahaha.

McCartney Ben McCartney
“Wake up when you get up”

Ritchie Nolan Ritchie
I’d let him do his thing, he’s a little bigger than me.

riley Ginnell Riley Ginnell
“Longer you wait the shorter the hole gets?”

Kruger Ethan Kruger
“Let me show you how it’s done”

Perepeluk Reid Perepeluk
“Wake up, or did you want me to be #1?”

Reinhardt Cole Reinhardt
“Speed it up Einstein”

Nychuk, Chad Chad Nychuk
I would probably request to put him in the last group with (Ty) Thorpey. They can both take all the time they need and the moon can hurry them up.

You find your ball but it’s in a bad lie. Nobody’s around. Do you use your foot wedge?

McCartney Ben McCartney
Never. That’s something Chad Nychuk does.

Kruger Ethan Kruger
No, don’t want bad karma.

Reinhardt Cole Reinhardt
100%.

riley Ginnell Riley Ginnell
I don’t think I’m taking that risk in the Masters, someone’s definitely lurking in the woods. Unless I’m losing really bad.

mccallum Lynden McCallum
I think I’m gonna play it as it lies…I don’t think I’m putting on the green jacket on Sunday anyway, so might as well play the right way.

Ritchie Nolan Ritchie
lol no.

Thorpe Ty Thorpe
No way, only integrity at Augusta.

salame Neithan Salame
All the time. That’s the only way I can sneak in a good score. It’s not cheating if no one catches you.

Nychuk, Chad Chad Nychuk
Not at Augusta, can’t disrespect the course. But I would almost guarantee Ben McCartney is.

Perepeluk Reid Perepeluk
All the time. Like I’m not even kidding, all the time in real life.
