RECAP: Blades Comeback to Double Up Wheat Kings Sunday
SASKATOON S.K. – A two goal lead for the Brandon Wheat Kings wasn’t enough Sunday as the Blades score 4 unanswered to win 4-2.
The Wheat Kings got off to a picture perfect start in the opening period with Brett Hyland generating a turnover in the neutral zone scoring off the rush to make it 1-0 after one.
In the second frame the Wheat Kings continued to pour on the pressure scoring another goal with Nolan Flamand throwing a shot on net which Blades goaltender Ethan Chadwick stopped but Nolan Ritchie would collect the loose rebound and score his 19th of the year to make it 2-0 Wheat Kings. The Blades would finally get some momentum late in the second when Charlie Wright placed a wrist shot from the right point through traffic and through goaltender Nick Jones to cutting the lead to 2-1 heading into the third period.
In the third The Blades got the tying goal after Charlie Wright fired a shot on Jones and Jordan Keller was at the right place at the right time batting in the rebound to tie it up at two. Then after Nate Danielson took his 2nd penalty of the game tripping Jake Chiasson the Blades would go on their 2nd powerplay of the game. During the powerplay for the Blades Trevor Wong would feed Jake Chiasson near the crease allowing Chiasson to score his 14th of the year giving the Blades their first lead of the game 3-2. Only 1:43 later Chiasson and Sidorov would locate Jordan Keller who drove the net past Luke Shipley and beat Nick Jones between the legs to give the Blades the insurance goal they needed with 7:19 remaining in regulation. That turned out to be the final 4-2.
