Brandon, MB. – The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced the acquisition of a veteran center from the Red Deer Rebels.
The Wheat Kings, who are currently in the middle of a 7-game west coast road trip, have obtained 19-year old Chad Robinson in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2014 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
A native of Minnedosa, the 5’11” 181 lb forward has one goal and two points in nine games this season. In 129 career games with the Rebels, the former Yellowhead AAA Chief has 44 points, including eleven goals as well as 49 minutes in penalties.
Last season, the former sixth round bantam draft choice scored eight goals and 36 points in 67 games.
Robinson is expected to join the Wheat Kings this week.
Brandon enters Tuesday’s game in Victoria with a 1-2-0 record on this trip and 6-5-1-0 overall. The Wheat Kings don’t play at home again until Friday, November 2nd when the Moose Jaw Warriors pay their first visit of the season to Westman Communications Group Place.
In other news, new assistant coach David Anning has joined the WHL club and will make his Wheat King debut against the Royals. Anning was added to the team's coaching staff last week after beginning the year with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Steinbach Pistons.
