Brandon, Manitoba – The Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce that they have come to terms on a new three-year broadcast agreement with Q Country 91.5FM (locally owned and operated by Westman Communications Group).
In making the announcement Thursday afternoon at Canad Inns Brandon, Q Country 91.5FM / 94.7 Star FM general manager Cam Clark said that the new contract will begin with the 2018-19 Western Hockey League season and conclude with the 2020-21 campaign.
“We have proudly been the Wheat Kings play by play voice for 26 years and we are pleased to be able to expand on this positive partnership to bring every home and away game to Wheat King fans, both on Q Country 91.5FM and also on 880AM where it all started,” said Clark.
CKLQ FM, known as Q Country 91.5 FM has been the play by play voice of the Wheat Kings since 1992.

Branden Crowe will return for his third season as “voice” of the WHL club and will be busy covering a number of special events throughout the season, such as training camp in two weeks and prospects camp in May each year. He will also be providing extensive coverage of the Wheat Kings throughout the day.
“The Wheat Kings are pleased to make this announcement today,” says Brandon general manager Grant Armstrong. “As voice of the hockey club, they’re part of our organization and we value the role that they play in our success.”
The contract with Q Country 91.5 FM adds to the content already available on western Manitoba’s information station. In addition to broadcasting all pre-season, regular season and playoff games, Q Country will host a 30-minute pre-game show, special intermission features as well as a variety of special programming such as a daily feature on both Q Country 91.5 FM and 94.7 Star FM.
In addition to providing broadcasts through streaming audio on both the team and station websites, Q Country 91.5 FM’s play by play will be featured through the league’s Webstreaming video.
Under terms of this contract, Q Country 91.5 FM will remain the Title Sponsor of the annual Sportsman’s Dinner in February, the Presenting Sponsor of January’s Family Skate Night at Westoba Place and will receive a number of advertising, ticket and promotional opportunities with the WHL club, including an exciting season long contest – details of which will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Wheat Kings first pre-season broadcast on Q Country will be Friday, September 7th when Brandon plays host to the visiting Regina Pats.
