Regina, SK. – The Brandon Wheat Kings bring the curtain down on their 2016-17 Western Hockey League regular season Saturday night at Westman Communications Group Place.
The Wheat Kings, who dropped a 7-1 decision in Regina on Friday night, return home Saturday to face the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy winning Pats.
The Pats, who enter the weekend with an impressive 51-12-7-1 record, will face Calgary or Saskatoon in the opening round of the playoffs while Brandon will take on the second seed in the Conference, the Central Division pennant winning Medicine Hat Tigers. Brandon will travel to Alberta to meet the Tigers for games one and two of their best of seven series next weekend, before travelling to Dauphin for games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 28th and 29th.
The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair has forced the Wheat Kings to play their first round home games at Dauphin’s Credit Union Place.
The Wheat Kings, who are in the playoffs for the 23rd time in the past twenty-five years, enter Saturday’s finale with a record of 31-30-7-3.
Saturday’s season finale will feature the hockey club’s Annual Awards Night, so fans are encouraged to come early as awards will be given out before, during and immediately following the game.

Saturday is also the final “Pizza Hut Family Night” of the season. The $69 Wheat Kings’ Family Pack – available at both Pizza Hut locations in Brandon – include 2 adult and 2 youth tickets, four personal pan pizzas, four Coca Colas and four souvenir programs.
