Brandon, MB. – The Brandon Wheat Kings have a new athletic therapist for the 2018-19 Western Hockey League season.
Roman (RJ) Kaszczij comes to Brandon from Guelph, Ontario and a two year stint with the Ontario Hockey League Champion Hamilton Bulldogs.
A graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton, Kaszcij also received a degree in Athletic Therapy at Sheridan College.
In addition to his work with the Bulldogs, he worked as an Athletic Training Intern with the Toronto Blue Jays, Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger Cats, Hockey Canada and McMaster University.
He also served as Trainer with the St. Catherines Spartans Jr “B” lacrosse club in the Ontario Lacrosse Association.
A member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), Kaszczij joins the WHL club, having received a number of prestigious scholarships over the course of the last two years.
Aside from the obvious chores of tending to the players throughout the season, RJ’s duties will include assisting the players in everything from nutrition to work in the gym.
Wheat Kings’ Training Camp begins later this month and will wrap up Sunday, September 2nd with the annual Black-White Intrasquad game at Westoba Place.
