Brandon, MB. – Brandon’s top prospects will be on display at Westoba Place this weekend as the Wheat Kings will play host to their annual Western Hockey League Prospects Camp.
The weekend camp gets underway Friday afternoon and will conclude on Sunday, June 3rd.
Close to thirty players, including the Wheat Kings top pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft are expected to participate in the camp, which will feature both on and off ice activities.
15-year old forward Jake Chiasson of Abbotsford, B.C. was the fifteenth overall selection in this year’s draft and is coming off a 68-point season that saw him score 20 goals and 48 assists with Yale Prep School’s bantam team.
Joining Chiasson will be a trio of players that Brandon chose in round two earlier this month – Brett Hyland of Edmonton, Dylan James of Calgary and from Saskatoon Jacob Hoffrogge.
“Prospects Camp is an introduction to the Wheat King organization for our recently drafted players and their families,” says Brandon’s Director of Scouting Darren Ritchie. “We go through everything from education, billeting and what a day looks like during the hockey season.”
This weekend’s Prospects Camp is open to the public and will feature the annual Prospects Intra-Squad game on Sunday morning at 9am.
