Brandon, Manitoba – The Brandon Wheat Kings, in association with the Western Hockey League have unveiled their 2017-18 regular season schedule.

The schedule will begin with a home and home series with the Regina Pats, beginning with the hockey club’s Home Opener on Friday, September 22nd. The two teams will then face off the following night at the Brandt Centre in Regina.

Of Brandon’s thirty-six (36) regular season home games, 27 will be played on weekends and holidays.

The Wheat Kings will play twelve Friday night home games, eleven on Saturday, three more on Sunday afternoons and for the first time ever, a game will be played at Westman Communications Group Place on Monday, February 19th “Louis Riel Day” against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors at 2:30pm.

Rounding out the home schedule will be six Tuesdays and three Wednesday night games.

The Wheat Kings will bring the curtain down on the 2017-18 regular season with a home an home series with the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday and Saturday, March 16th and 17th.

Brandon will play four of its Eastern Division rivals (Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current and Moose Jaw) a total of eight games this year (four at home and four away). The Wheat Kings will face Prince Albert six times (three at home and three away) while playing all Central Division clubs twice at home and twice on the road.

Western Manitoba hockey fans will have the opportunity to see the WHL’s five B.C. Division clubs – Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, Vancouver and Victoria – beginning with a game against the Giants on Friday, October 20th. Victoria will visit the following night, with Kelowna and Kamloops visiting in December and the Wheat Kings hosting the Cougars on February 2nd.

Some other observations of this year’s schedule include the following;

–  Brandon plays three home games in September, five in October, five more in November, 7 in December, five in January, six in February and five in March to close out the regular season

–  Brandon’s annual west coast tour features stops in all U.S. Division teams, beginning Wednesday, January 17th in Spokane against the Chiefs

–  The west coast road trip also includes stops in Tri-Cities, Everett, Portland and Seattle as part of a season high 7-game road trip in January, that concludes with a 2-game series against the Ice in Kootenay.

–  Wheat Kings will close out their pre-Christmas schedule by playing the Warriors in Moose Jaw on Saturday, December 16th

–  The Wheat Kings’ 880 CKLQ Sportsman’s Dinner will be held on Thursday, February 8th. The annual Scholarship Foundation event will be followed by games on Friday, February 9th against the visiting Saskatoon Blades

–  Brandon will host two games over the Christmas break – Wednesday, Dec. 27th vs Regina and Saturday, Dec. 30th against Moose Jaw

–  The Wheat Kings will feature two 5-game home stands – from Dec. 6th – 15th and from Jan. 5th to 13th.

–  The club’s Annual Remembrance Day game will be played at 7:30pm on Saturday, November 11th against visiting Saskatoon Blades
