Brandon, MB. – Back by popular demand, the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce plans for the 2012 Scotiabank Skills Day to be held on Sunday, November 4th in Westman Communications Group Place.
The event, which will be hosted by Top Shot Hockey from Toronto, will include a number of events including Breakaway, Relay, Accuracy and Hardest Shot and will feature all of the Wheat Kings’ current players.
The competition will begin at 2:00pm and has been made possible through the generous support of Brandon’s two Scotiabank branches.
"Scotiabank is proud to partner with the Wheat Kings and Hockey Brandon to help bring this terrific event to life, says local Scotiabank Branch Manager Brian Boes. “We look forward to an exciting day for the fans – in support of a great community organization.”
Tickets to next month’s Skills Day are now on sale for just $2 and can be purchased at the Wheat Kings’ office, BDO Fan Services during Wheat Kings’ home games, Brandon’s two Scotiabank locations as well as Hockey Brandon’s office.
In addition to selling general admission tickets, over six hundred Hockey Brandon players will receive a complimentary ticket for this year’s event. As well, all 2012-13 Wheat Kings’ Season Ticket holders received tickets for it.
All ticket sales proceeds will be donated to Hockey Brandon programs and President Glen Parker could not be happier.
“Hockey Brandon was thrilled to hear that we had been selected to be a the recipient of the general admission receipts of this event,” says Parker. “We are are extremely grateful to both Scotiabank and the Wheat Kings for making this possible. We are in the planning stages now to see how we can best utilize these funds to enhance a specific program or project.”
An additional feature at this year’s event will offer minor hockey players (ages 12 and under) the chance to serve as the “Honorary Stick Kid Captain” to one of the Wheat King teams. Minor hockey players can enter by filling in a ballot at BDO Fan Services during upcoming home games or by visiting one of the two Brandon Scotiabank branches (located at Shoppers Mall and on the corner of 10th and Rosser).
In addition to having the opportunity to hit the ice with their hockey heroes, the two Stick Kid captains will take home an autographed Wheat Kings’ replica jersey, courtesy of Scotiabank.
Team captains and rosters for this November’s Skills Day will be announced later this month.
