SATURDAY IS AWARDS NIGHT AT WESTOBA PLACE

Brandon, MB. – The Brandon Wheat Kings have a special night planned for Saturday night as they close out the 2018-19 Western Hockey League regular season schedule with the back half of a home and home weekend series with the visiting Regina Pats.

Fans attending Saturday’s regular season finale are being encouraged to come early as the hockey club will present it’s annual Awards Presentations, to be held before, during and immediately following this game.

In addition to handing out the hardware, the Wheat Kings will use this game to recognize the hockey club’s two graduating 20-year olds – defenceman Bradyn Chizen and left-winger Linden McCorrister.

One significant change to the awards this season will be the MazerGroup Award, to be presented at the start of the second period play.

The trophy, which will be presented to the Wheat Kings Hardest Working Player, has been named in honour of Mike Adamski. The longtime Brandon teacher and school principal, who passed away in 2017 following a battle with cancer.

Making the presentation on Saturday night will be Mike’s children Jordan and Aisha.

Tickets to Saturday’s game are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca

Following is a complete schedule of the trophy presentations on Saturday night:

In addition to the awards and the presentation to Brandon’s graduating players, the hockey club will present its 2018-19 Highlight Video at the conclusion of the hardware distribution.

The Wheat Kings will be hoping to end their season on a winning note after losing in Regina Friday night and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and only the third time in the past 27 years.

In order to force a sudden death tiebreaker on Tuesday night in Alberta, the Wheat Kings will need to win both weekend games against Regina and hope that Red Deer loses to both Lethbridge and the Kootenay Ice.

Tickets to Saturday night’s regular season finale are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling (204) 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com

Saturday’s game is a presentation of the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre.
