Brandon, MB. – Twenty-five seats for every Brandon Wheat Kings home game will be awarded to young athletes and coaches through the newly established MNP “Most Valuable Team” (MVT) Program, the Western Hockey League club announced on Monday.
The initiative, introduced by MNP this month, supports youth involved in amateur athletics and recognizes the volunteer efforts of their coaches.
"A lot of these kids look up to the Wheat Kings and we are excited to give them a chance to see their favourite team play,” says Dan Trotter, a Partner in MNP’s Brandon office. “Our firm has always been committed to Brandon and the surrounding communities, and this program is a great opportunity for us to support these teams and promote the importance of physical activity. It will also give these teams an opportunity to do something together outside of practice and playing. We know that being social and feeling like a part of a community is one of the great benefits of local team sports and we are happy to have a program in place that helps make that possible.”
The MNP MVT program is open to western Manitoba athletes ages eight to seventeen and their coaches or assistant coaches. Youth teams from any sport can apply, from minor hockey to swimming and high school sports.
“We’re excited to partner with MNP on this program," says Rick Dillabough of the Wheat Kings. “We know that seeing exciting Live WHL hockey at Westman Place will be important to these young athletes."
Applications to attend Wheat Kings’ Saturday night home games this season, beginning with the October 6th game against the visiting Red Deer Rebels, are now being accepted. Coaches, managers or other team officials can enter their team online at www.wheatkings.com or email mvt@mnp.ca or at any MNP locations.
In addition to the tickets, all winning teams will receive complimentary copies of the Wheat Kings 2012-13 Souvenir Program. As well, each week the winning team will be introduced during the game.
MNP has a long history of supporting sport throughout western Canada and is committed to helping community organizations through programs like the MVT Program and this partnership with the Wheat Kings.
